Ramayana trail tour (रामायण यात्रा) is connected with the epic story of Ramayana. It is a religious, cultural and archaeological tour in Sri Lanka where you could experience the places where Ramayana was occurred. According to Ramayana, Ravana, the king of Lanka, abducted Rama's wife Sita. Therefore, Rama and his alliance made rescue campaign that started in India towards Sri Lanka. Finally, Rama rescued his wife and returned home.

Day 1
Day 1 – Airport / Tissa (320 km Approx. 05 ½ Hrs)
On arrival our driver guide will meet you at the Colombo International airport arrival lounge and transfer to Tissa.
En-route visit Unawatuna.
Unawatuna traces its roots to the great epic Ramayana. In the epic, the monkey-warrior Hanuman was sent back to India to fetch the four medicinal herbs by Jambavan namely, mritasanjeevani, vishalyakarani, suvarnakarani, and sandhani from the Himalayas in order to heal Lakshman who was wounded trying to save the abducted Princess Sita from the demon king Ravana. Hanuman failed to identify these herbs, so he lifted the entire mountain and carried it to the battlefield to try to save Lakshman, but in the process, a chunk of it "fell-down" in the location of the present day Unawatuna, the name of the village derives from "Una-watuna" meaning "fell down".
En-route visit Ussangoda.
Ussangoda is a designated archaeological site. It is also a nature reserve and is located in the southern turtle breeding zones. Ussangoda is a patch of high ground by the sea and spreads over a significant area. Unlike the rest of the land surrounding, it is only covered with grass and a few pockets of pigmy forests. The summit of Ussangoda area pans like a plateau for a significant length.
Evening worship Kataragama scared temple.
Kataragama - A pilgrimage town sacred to Buddhist, Hindu and indigenous Vedda people of Sri Lanka. People from South India also go there to worship.
Overnight stay in Tissa.

Day 2
Day 2 – Tissa / Nuwara Eliya (150 km Approx. 04 Hours)
After breakfast proceed to Nuwara Eliya.
En-route Ravana Falls & other maggior attaractions in Ella.
The Ravana Falls is a popular sightseeing attraction in Sri Lanka. It currently ranks as one of the widest falls in the country.
Afternoon visit Seetha Amman Temple & Gayathri Peedam.Seetha Amman Temple - is located approximately 1 kilometer from Hakgala Botanical Garden and 5 kilometers from Nuwara Eliya. The temple is located in the village of Seetha Eliya. This place is believed to be the site where Sita was held captive demon king Ravana, and where she prayed daily for Rama to come and rescue her in the Lankan epic, Ramayana. On the rock face across the stream are circular depressions said to be the footprints of Ravana’s elephant.
Gayathri Peedam - also spelled as Gayaththri Peedam, is within the Nuwara-eliya town, the first and most significant temple built for Gayathri Amman in Sri Lanka. Gayathri being an aspect of Saraswati and the Universal Mother. The temple was founded by the Gayathri Siddhar Swami Murusegu. The Shiva Lingam for this Tamil temple was brought from the Holy River Narmada. Gayathri Pitam is said to be the place from where King Ravana's son Meghanath propitiated Lord Shiva with penance and worship and in turn was granted super natural powers by the mighty god.
Visit Hakgala Botanical Garden.
Hakgala Botanical Garden - Botanic Gardens at Hakgala were established in 1861 for the purpose of experimentation and promotion of Cinchona cultivation in Sri Lanka. The gardens lying in the hill country among Sri Lanka's tea plantations in the Nuwara Eliya.
Spend the rest of the day taking a short walk in Victoria park or Gregory Lake.Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 3
Day 3 – Nuwara Eliya / Kandy (85 km Approx. 3 hours)
After breakfast proceed to Kandy.
En-route Visit Hanuman Kovil.
Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple - According to the ancient stories, Ramboda is a area, where the forces of Rama's gather to fight against King Ravana. This temple was built by the Chinmaya mission of Sri Lanka and dedicated to Hanuman. This temple houses for 16 feet height statue of Hanuman. Visit Kandy temple.
Temple of the Tooth Relic - is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site mainly due to the temple.
Evening, witness a Cultural Dance performance.
Cultural Dance Show - offers a very vibrant and unique show of Sri Lankan traditional dances, in the form of Kandy cultural show. The beat a dancing from "Salupliya" depicting several demons, "Thelme" vibrant expression of low country rhythm, Fire and Harvest dances accompanied by Ceremonial Drums and the Drum Orchestra rising and falling to the lively tempo. As many as 12 different folk and traditional dances are performed by Kandy lake club dance troop within the span of one hour.

Day 4 – Kandy / Trincomalee (180 km Approx. 4 ½ hours)
After breakfast proceed to Trincomalee.
En-route visit Ravana Hot Water Wells.
Ravana Hot Water Wells - The hot wells of Kanniyai or Kanniya are close to the main road to Anuradhapura, in Trincomalee town. Pilgrims believe in the healing powers of the warm water. Visit Triru Koneswaram temple & Sri Pathrakali Amman Temple.
Thiru Koneswaram - is a wonderful temple located on a rock promontory in Trincomalee. It was built by Rishi Agastya on the instructions of Lord Shiva who was impressed by the devotion of King Ravana. This place is unique in this respect because the Lord built a temple for his devotee as a reward for his devotion. Lord Rama is believed to have offered his prayers here too, in order to get rid of the malediction of killing Ravana who was a Brahmin, meaning Brahmahasthi Dosham. The famous temple built here during the glorious era of the Tamil Pallava and Chola and Pandya empires, was destroyed by bigoted Portuguese Christians between 1622 and 1624. Sri Pathrakali Amman Temple - dedicated to the goddess Bhadrakali, a form of the goddess Kali Amman in Trincomalee. Visit Ravana Hot Water Wells.

Day 5 – Trincomalee / Negombo (285 km Approx. 5 ½ hours)
After breakfast proceed to Negombo.
En-route visit Murugan Temple, Munneswaram Kovil & Manavari Kovil.
The Murugan temple, situated at the main road 9 km south of Chilaw and 10 km north of Marawila, is an extraordinarily neat Tamil temple, even more colourful than other Hindu Kovils in the modern Drawidian style. The temple is known as Punchi Kataragama temple.
Munneswaram Kovil - It is believed that Munneswaram predates the Ramayana and a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva was located here. Munneswaram means the first temple for Shiva (Munnu + Easwaran). A Shiva Lingam was already here when Lord Rama visited this place. Lord Rama after his victorious battle left for Ayodhya with Sita in one of King Ravana’s Vimanas.
Manavari Kovil - The first lingam was installed at Manavari near the banks of the Deduru Oya (river). The Manavari Temple in Chilaw is the place where first lingam installed and prayed by Rama, hence to date this lingam is called as Ramalinga Shivan. Rameshwaram is the only other lingam in the world named after Lord Rama.
